Combating perinatal and postpartum matters together...

Maternal Matters Favored (Favored) is a Christian based nonprofit organization whose goal is to provide an outlet for parents to vent, receive support and guidance on how to cope with life while parenting.

Our philosophy consists of social support as a

3-dimensional structure:

*Emotional support (concern, comfort, and encouragement)

*Instrumental support (money, time, and tangible assistance)

*Informational support (where advice, education, and knowledge sharing takes place)

Motherhood is usually a joyful life experience; for some women, however, it is marked by emotional turmoil. The uncertainty of what’s to come, the expectations of parenting, and the lack of support can bring about perinatal and or postpartum anxiety and depression. This can compromise both the mother and infant.

Dads, non-birthing mothers, partners, and other helpers need information, support, and connection, too. Parents and partners can also feel depressed or anxious after the birth or adoption of a child.  Studies show that 1 in 10 partners will experience postpartum depression.

Having support contributes to improving the wellbeing of the mother, the infant and household as a whole.

We provide services to those suffering from perinatal/postpartum disorders brought about by mental illness, substance use, physical and or emotional trauma.

Perinatal and Postpartum Mood Disorders can be:

-Depression and Anxiety in Pregnancy

-Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

-Postpartum Depression and Anxiety

-Perinatal Grief and Loss

-Postpartum Anxiety and Panic Disorder

We are here to be a helping hand to anyone in need:

*Expecting Moms/Dads

*New Moms/Dads

*Non-Birthing Parents
